Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth.

Jesus is:

• The faithful witness
  A faithful witness is one whose testimony is truthful. As the faithful witness, Jesus is trustworthy in all He says. As a result, Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be. All that Jesus said is true. We can trust His promises. We must heed His warnings. We need to obey His commands. We can rely on His Word. Everything said by Jesus is absolutely true. How then should you approach His Word?
• The first begotten from the dead
  The phrase “First begotten” suggests Jesus’ authority over death. Jesus was not the first person to be raised from the dead, but He was the first to be resurrected. All else who were raised to life died again, except Jesus. Jesus was resurrected- He was raised to life, taken to heaven and given a glorified body. Jesus’ death and resurrection conquers death. The resurrection of Jesus ensures an ultimate resurrection for all who trust Him for salvation.

  Though Jesus died on the cross, He is alive. He will never again die. His resurrection and life is the reason all Christian’s have life. Jesus’ resurrection conquers death, transforming the believer’s death from defeat to victory. He who rose from the dead will certainly resurrect all those who trust Him for eternal life. He will resurrect the Christian to a death free life. Jesus gives eternal life to all who believe Him. How then should you live your life?

• The prince of the kings of the earth
  Many tyrants have attempted to conquer the world, but all have failed. Only One Ruler is prince over all the kings of the earth. Only One Sovereign is the king’s King and the lord’s Lord. He rules supreme. He rules with such power that His will never fails to be accomplished.

  The King of kings possesses a real kingdom and He will certainly establish His kingdom on this earth. Jesus is alive and returning. When He returns He will conquer the kings of the world and imprison Satan. Jesus will establish a kingdom which will never end. He will rule for a thousand years and then usher in eternity where His reign will continue eternally in that time without time. Jesus rules now and forever. How then should we submit to His rule now?

Because Jesus is the faithful witness all He says about Himself can be believed. We can trust His promise to raise us to life again. We know He is returning. We are certain He is reigning and will reign. We can worship Him because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Let us worship Him because He alone is the living and faithful Savior. Let us obey His because He alone is the King of kings.
